The deal between us.
Last updated October 23, 2026.
These terms cover your Owner Guild membership and any work we do for you. "We" and "the Guild" mean The Owner Guild. "You" means the restaurant business that joins. By paying for a membership, you agree to these terms.
1. What we do
We help you lower what your restaurant pays for software. Depending on your package:
- Knowledge (included in membership): we review the bills and contracts you send us, show where you may be overpaying, give you a plan for each tool, and send renewal alerts.
- Guidance: we help you prepare for vendor conversations and review offers before you answer. Priced separately when available.
- Do it for me: we contact your vendors and negotiate for you, within limits you set in writing.
2. Neg
Neg is the Guild's AI negotiator. It reads your documents, finds savings, and drafts and runs vendor conversations. A person at the Guild reviews its work. Neg can make mistakes; that's one reason you approve every move.
3. Membership
- Membership costs $49 per year, charged when you join.
- It renews automatically every year at the then-current price. We'll email you before it renews.
- You can cancel anytime by emailing ask@theownerguild.com. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the year you paid for.
- The membership fee is non-refundable, including if a negotiation doesn't produce savings.
4. The "Do it for me" success fee
- Savings means how much less you'll pay over the 12 months after a new agreement takes effect, compared with what you were paying before, as written in the agreement you sign with the vendor. Cancelling a tool you no longer need counts as savings.
- The success fee is 10% of those savings, up to $200 per agreement.
- No savings, no fee: if your first bill under the new terms isn't more than $49 lower than your previous bill, we charge no success fee for that agreement.
- We confirm savings using the signed agreement and that first bill. Please send us both.
- Before charging, we email you the savings, the fee, and the charge date. You can reply with questions before you're charged.
- The fee applies to any agreement we negotiated that you sign within 90 days after we presented the offer, even if you cancel your membership.
5. Your card
Payments are handled by Stripe. When you join, you authorize us to save your card and charge it for membership renewals and any success fee described above, after the notice in section 4. We never see or store your full card number.
6. You're in charge
- We contact your vendors only with your written OK, and only within the limits you set (for example, a target price or terms you won't accept).
- We may ask other vendors for quotes on your behalf to strengthen your position. That never commits you to anything.
- You sign every agreement yourself. We never sign, accept, or cancel anything for you.
- Every decision, including whether to accept an offer, stay, switch, or cancel, is yours.
7. What we can't promise
- We can't guarantee any vendor will lower its price or change its terms. Results depend on your vendors, your contracts, and your decisions.
- Our findings and recommendations are our best judgment based on what you give us. They aren't legal, tax, or accounting advice. For those, talk to a professional.
- You're responsible for giving us accurate, complete information and for reading any agreement before you sign it.
8. Our independence
We don't take money from software vendors: no referral fees, commissions, revenue share, or sponsorships. We'll recommend staying with a vendor when that's the better deal for you.
9. Your information
How we handle your documents and data is described in our Privacy Policy. You can ask for your files back or deleted at any time.
10. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits, or for a vendor's actions.
11. Ending our work together
You can stop working with us at any time. We may end our work with you if you ask us to act outside the law, outside these terms, or in bad faith. Sections 4, 7, 10, and 12 continue after we stop working together.
12. Disagreements
If something goes wrong, email ask@theownerguild.com first and we'll try to make it right. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we'll email members at least 30 days before it applies. Changes never apply retroactively to a fee already owed.
